The word shamaā (𐤔𐤌𐤏) means “hear” meaning to listen to; give or pay attention to.

It is also the of someone known as “a mighty-man of David”. The 𐤔𐤌𐤏 (Shamaā) occurs only once in the scriptures (although it’s spelled the same as the town Shema). 𐤔𐤌𐤏 (Shamaā) is the () of 𐤉𐤏𐤉𐤀𐤋 (Yaāyaal), who are () of 𐤇𐤅𐤕𐤌 (Khauatam) the 𐤏𐤓𐤏𐤓𐤉 (Āraāray). Both () are listed among the mighty men of 𐤃𐤅𐤃 (Dauad), but play no further role in the scriptures.
